To verify an organization and issue an SSL certificate with company verification (Organization validation certificate / OV) or an SSL certificate with extended validation (Extended validation certificate / EV), the Certification Center checks a number of points that may differ from one company to another, but the “basic” verification as follows:
1. Availability of the organization in the international yellow pages.
2. Presence of the organization name in the whois information.
2.Certificate of state registration or presence in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities (for legal entities from Uzbekistan).
Verification call - they call either the phone number that is found in open sources, or the one that is specified in the administrative contact when configuring the certificate and asks the person specified in the administrative contact.
The procedure differs slightly for different certification authorities. For example, Thawte, Symantec and GeoTrust can make a phone call in Russian if you indicate this moment when sending documents for verification of the company. Comodo does not provide Russian-language support. Nevertheless, it allows you to change the contact person if the official telephone number of the company is answered by a person who does not have information on issuing the certificate or does not speak English. A similar change must be made when requesting a signature of the user agreement, which is sent by email after ordering an EV certificate.
An additional set of documents may also be requested (at the discretion of the Certification Center), but the main one is listed above.
Note:
In all documents, information sources, CSR request, WHOIS domain data and other places, the company name and contact information about it must be absolutely identical.
Also, to speed up and simplify the process of issuing a green line certificate, we recommend registering a DUNS number for your company - this is a 9-digit identification number assigned to each company that registers in the D&B (Dun & Bradstreet) database. When checking a company, Certification Centers often turn to open information sources, the largest and most authoritative of which is Dun & Bradstreet, whose database stores data on more than 140 million companies in the world. The number assigned to a specific enterprise remains unchanged throughout its existence.
